William doing his first workout

Wow, what a workout!  I started with 25lbs, thinking I was being conservative.  My hands are smoked (in a good way)!  If grip strength is tied to longevity, my hands were telling me I didn’t have much time left!  It took me about 26:30 minutes to complete 3 cycles.  I had to rewind a couple of times in order not to cheat myself.  I feel accomplished and immensely grateful.  My challenge to myself is to do three workouts a week for the next four weeks to EARN a GripSack Sandbag.  I just have to mention this in closing, Sunday (two days ago) I was so inspired after coming across Steve on Instagram, I went out and purchased sand and a sandbag.  Just lugging that sand from my car to the basement left my hamstrings sore up until today.  In an email from Steve today he simply said, “I stopped kidding myself life was going to get easier.”  It was then I knew I had to start today, no matter what.

Great job William. I’m guessing you did 3 cycles through the video (so 9 cycles of the workout) and that’s a committed start! Looking forward to hearing about your next workout

So, I’m back. It’s been quite a journey to get back to this point. I must admit I’m using a relatively light weight and I’ve only managed 2 cycles in the time, but I’m proud of myself for getting back to this point after having a bit of ill health after Christmas. Onwards!

Day three was the most difficult mentally so far.  I was feeling lazy today and did not want to do it.  I had to remind myself that I’m an adult and sometimes we do what we need to do, not what we want to do.  As soon as I completed that last lunge, it felt…

Always harder doing this at the end of the day rather than the start! reverse cycle feels easier on the grip strength. I’m looking at this 25 x 3 times a week like “tooth brushing” – it’s gotta be done. Just over half way.  Exactly. We clean our teeth because of what we don’t want…

Didn’t fancy this. Did it. Glad I did.  Well done Kirsty. It’s not always easy, but that’s true of anything worth pursuing in life! – Steve, @miniworkoutdad
